Diamantino Pereira Mendes

Diamantino Pereira Mendes, 91, of Fall River, Massachusetts, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at his home.

    He was the beloved husband of the late Maria (Chousa) Mendes.

    Born in Arcos de Valdevez, Viana do Castelo, Portugal, he was the son of the late Joao Mendes and Custodia Pereira.

    Diamantino was a dedicated and hardworking man who spent the majority of his career as a machine operator for Quaker Fabrics in the textile industry. Always keeping busy, he was happiest when he was active and productive. Outside of his work, he enjoyed gardening and took special pride in taking care of his bunnies. Most of all, he loved the happy memories he created with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

    He is survived by his two children, Antonio Mendes (and his wife Irene), and Maria Alice dos Santos (and her husband Hernani Mendonca); his grandchildren, Evonne Mendes Carvalho and Alex dos Santos; his great-grandchildren, Brielle Carvalho and Pearl dos Santos; several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Alberto Pereira.

    Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, November 25, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia Street, Fall River, MA 02721.

    His funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 26, beginning at 9 AM at the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM at Santo Christo Church. Interment will take place at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
