Diana Gilbert Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kane Funeral Home - Sheridan on Mar. 9, 2026.
Diana Lee Gilbert, 85, passed away on March 9,2026, leaving behind a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to her family.

Bornin Sheridan, Wyoming, to Michael Etchemendy and Ruby Etchemendy(Landrey), Diana was raised in Clearmont and later lived in Buffalo, Dayton, and finally Sheridan. She carried with her a strong work ethic and a resilient spirit, always ready to lend a hand and care for those around her. Diana treasured her lifelong friendship with her best friend from near Clearmont, Karen Senff, a bond that brought joy and comfort throughout her life.

Her life centered on family. She and Clay Gilbert began their life together on September 19, 1958, building a home filled with warmth, humor, and constant activity. Their four boys kept life busy, but they were the source of her greatest pride and joy. Together they raised Kevin of Sheridan; Troy of Sheridan and his children, Kayana and Brayden; Greg of Gillette and his wife Amanda, and their daughter Quinlee; and Brad of Rapid City and his wife Chrissi, and their children Britni Poppell and her husband Dan and their son Dean, Madison Gilbert and her fiancé Connor Norman, and Carter Gilbert.

She loved her family deeply and took great pride in being a grandmother and great-grandmother. Being surrounded by her family was what mattered most to her, and the time spent together was always the part of life she treasured most.

She is also survived by her sister, Janet Olver of Pine Haven, with whom she shared a lifelong bond, and by her husband, Bob, along with their children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Glen Etchemendy. Diana cherished her extended family and was deeply proud of the close connections they maintained throughout life.

Diana loved her dogs, especially her beloved River Rose. She had a fondness for frogs, TY Beanie Babies, tie dye, and beautiful roses. Her back porch, lined with hanging flower baskets, was one of her favorite places. She could spend hours there chatting away, often with her dear friend Brenda Rendon, enjoying black coffee in the morning or aglass of wine and Cheetos in the evening while watching the world goby. Many afternoons were filled with easy laughter and long patio conversations. She also loved a good game of bingo or Hearts. Everyone who visited knew her wide smile and her warm, cheerful "Well, hi!"

Diana'sstrength, humor, and unwavering love left a lasting mark on everyonewho knew her. She created a lifetime of memories for her family, stories that will be retold with love for generations. She will bedeeply missed and forever cherished.

A Service will be held at the Ignite Wesleyan Church (404W Brundage Ln, Sheridan, WY 82801)on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM, with a reception to followat the church.
