Our beloved Diana Gonzales, also known to many as Grandma D, went home to be with the Lord on December 23, 2023.

Diana Gonzales was born on July 14, 1943 in Devine, Texas to Agapito and Juanita Villarreal.

Diana Gonzales impacted the lives of many by serving others. Diana’s fun, wild, giving, one-of-a-kind, sociable, energetic, strong and courageous spirit will be missed. Her mission was one that made a great difference in the lives of many people and our world. Her departure touched many.

Diana lived to serve others. This service was in many different forms. Diana spent her whole life helping others. She was always there for those who were in need, whether they needed to take shelter, clothing, or food during a difficult time, or simply wanted an ear that would listen without judging, condemning or prejudging. She was well known and admired in her community. Diana was a woman with a desire to help all and leave the world a little brighter. She continuously expressed love, giving, and charity. Her mission was a great one. She displayed the significance of embracing love unconditionally, serving selflessly, and generously giving to those around her.

Grama D spent many years serving her time at the First Presbyterian Thrift Shop. All of her relationships were based on genuine affection. She always showed everyone love and respect and made it a priority to love openly.

The death of our beloved Grandma D is a reminder that once we leave this world our possessions, titles, material goods, and finances no longer matter. All that counts when we leave, when we have completed our mission, is that we love fully and purely.

Grama D’s passing left beautiful memories behind in the minds and hearts of all who knew her. Thinking of Grandma Diana automatically brings a smile to the faces of those who knew her. Because she loved life, but most importantly, she loved her family.

Thank you Grandma D, for reminding us that this present moment is precious, and that we should make the most of it by loving fully and generously.

Diana Gonzales leaves behind; her significant other of 27 years, Armando Rosario Sarabia. Her sons Fabian Gonzales, Fraser Gonzales (Nora), Adam Villarreal and Joe (JB) Otanez. Her daughters Mary Mancilla (Ramon) and Laiza Romero. She is reunited with her mother and father Agapito and Juanita Villarreal, eight siblings; which include five brothers and three sisters, two sons Frank Gonzales and KC Villarreal, daughter Diana Alamar Gonzales, grandson Xavier Villarreal, and great-great-granddaughter Bella Escatel. Grandma Diana is survived by one sibling, Nancy Garcia of Devine, Texas. Grandma Diana’s other surviving relatives are endless spanning five generations and over 60 grandchildren; not including numerous others she embraced and raised as her own.

During the fulfilled life of Diana she wove a legacy of boundless generosity, offering her heart without reservation and embracing all in need as family. As the cherished fabric and enduring glue of her family, her love remains an everlasting thread that binds us together. Her absence leaves an irreplaceable void, and the sadness will be deeply felt by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 4:00 - 6:00 P.M. at Beverage-Lyons Family Funeral Home, 704 N. 6th St. Rochelle, IL. A funeral service will follow at 6:15 P.M.
