Diana Abraham Sawyer, 81, formerly of Fall River, passed away on November 20, 2025, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Needham.
She was the beloved wife of the late Bradley Clayton Sawyer.
She was born in Fall River, Massachusetts, on June 22, 1944, a daughter of Shadan S. and Madeline (Hacheme-Nasiff) Abraham. Diana was a graduate of Sacred Hearts Academy in Fall River and earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Education from Lesley College.
Diana was a woman of immense intelligence who possessed the "patience of a saint." These traits served her well in her distinguished 37-year career as a Special Education teacher, working primarily at Barnstable Middle and High Schools. A dedicated professional, she was a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association. Beyond the classroom, she was deeply involved in her community, supporting the March of Dimes and various charitable organizations. Diana lived a life filled with joy; she was known for her love of reading. Her happiest moments were spent being around her family, skiing, and going out on the boat.
She is survived by her son, Abraham Bradley Sawyer, and his partner, Melissa A. Schoenfield. She also leaves behind her sisters, Antoinette Abraham and Yvonne Taylor. She was preceded in death by her brother, Anthony Abraham.
A visitation will be held Saturday, November 29, 2025, from 2 - 4 PM at the Oliveira Funeral Home, South Main St. Chapel, 2064 South Main St. in Fall River, with prayers during the visitation. Her Funeral Mass, at St. Anthony of the Desert Church, 300 N. Eastern Ave., Fall River, will take place Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at 10 AM.
