Diane J. Bandelow, age 79, a devoted wife, mother, sister, and aunt passed away on September 16, 2024 in Downers Grove, Illinois. She is survived by her husband Robert Bandelow, her daughters Barbara Bandelow and Sara (Timothy) Sweeney, her grandson William Sweeney, her brother Martin (Jan) Witek, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Adam and Marie Witek, her sister Janice Shonka, and her brother Stanley Witek Sr.
Diane was born on April 10, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois. She was raised in Lisle, Illinois; graduating from Sacred Heart Academy in 1963. She married her husband Robert in 1967, and they settled in Downers Grove, Illinois, where they continued to live until her passing.
She worked as a seamstress at bridal shop, and often made clothes for her children and nieces when they were young. She was homemaker. Her travels took her to Hawaii, Alaska, Las Vegas, and many places in between. Her hobbies included reading, puzzle books, sewing, quilting, crocheting, and needlepointing. She often took calligraphy and crafting classes through the local park district.
She was loved by many and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A service will be planned for a later date.
