Diane Hurley Bashaw

Diane Hurley Bashaw passed away on January 30, 2026, at the age of 79, surrounded by her loving family. She was born to John and Evelyn Hurley on September 25, 1946, in Springfield, MA. During high school, Diane attended prom with a young man named Edward Bashaw-her future husband and lifelong partner. After graduation, she attended the University of Massachusetts School of Nursing, earning her BSN. As a nurse, Diane devoted more than 35 years to caring for others.

Diane was known for her kindness, her love for adventure, and her deep devotion to her family. She always dreamed of being a mother, and she and Edward were blessed with two daughters, Jenny and Devony. Her daughters fondly remember girls' trips to Carmel, where they explored food tours together. A true lover of sweets, Diane often insisted that dessert should come first. Her adventurous spirit took her to Hawaii, the Caribbean Islands, Sedona, Alaska, Italy, Paris, and Ireland-a place especially meaningful to her because of her proud Irish heritage.

Diane is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Edward Bashaw; her daughters Jenny Phillips (Matt) and Devony McMillan (Billy); and her grandchildren, Marissa Contreras and Grayson McMillan, whom she adored and was incredibly proud of.
