Jack Dean Bashaw Jr.

Jack Dean Bashaw Jr. was born March 29, 1955, in Monroe, Michigan. He was one of four children born to the union of Jack D. Bashaw Sr. and Jeanette (Levine) Bashaw. Jack attended Monroe High School.
On April 6, 1979, at the Monroe County Courthouse, Jack married the love of his life; the former Alice Cuykendall and together the couple were blessed with two daughters and two sons. Jack was no stranger to hard work and did whatever was needed of him to support his family. He was employed for more than ten years at Don's Car Wash and Quality Auto Wash. In addition, he spent over forty years at several different factories with the most recent being Colonel's Inc. in Milan, Michigan where he was a proud member of the Teamsters Union.
Jack was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, not caring about the destination as much as whether or not the fish were biting. He also appreciated the serenity of sitting quietly in the Mio woods looking for his next trophy buck, camping locally at the Wilderness Retreat in Dundee or Sterling State Park in Monroe, or tending to the flower gardens in his backyard.
A grill afficionado, Jack loved tossing a slab of his famous ribs on the barbeque. He was an avid sports fan watching everything from tennis to golf to baseball to football and for sure tuned in to watch his Detroit sports teams. When Jack wasn't enjoying the beauty of the great outdoors, he enjoyed his favorite soap opera "Days of Our Lives".
He lived his life simple and to the fullest, cherishing all the time spent with his children and grandchildren.
Jack Dean Bashaw, Jr., age 70 of Monroe passed away on Tuesday; November 4, 2025, at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital. His passing was preceded by his parents: Jack and Jeanette Bashaw Sr.; his brother: Art Bashaw; two sisters: Geri Vinson and Sue Bashaw; and his nephew: Hunter Bashaw.
To cherish his memory Jack leaves his loving wife of forty-six years: Alice Bashaw; two daughters: Angie (Joel) Burkey of Omer, Michigan and Heidi (Joseph) Draganic of LaSalle, Michigan; two sons: Jack Bashaw III (Nicole Brooks) and Jeremy (Nicole) Bashaw, both of Monroe; eleven grandchildren: Bethany Bashaw (Derrick Clark), Meredyth Bashaw, Madelyn Bashaw, Jack Bashaw IV, Colton Bashaw, Logan Bashaw, Lucas Bashaw, Lola Bashaw, Katelyn Farris, Micheal Farris, and Kathleen Draganic.
Friends may gather from 11:00am until 1:30pm on Monday; November 10, 2025, at Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe, 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of Jack's Life will begin at 1:30pm also at Merkle's with Pastor Frank Draganic of Harvest Community Church of the Nazarene in Lincon Park, Michigan officiating. Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle, Michigan.
