Diane C. Byrne

Diane C. Byrne died peacefully in her sleep after a short illness on July 21, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Constance Cobb. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, John R. Byrne. She was a loving wife and a devoted mother to her children, John (Rachel) Byrne, Katie (Rob) Delabar and Kelley (Ian) Frazier. Each one of her children has embraced her legacy of kindness, strength and generosity.

She adored her four grandchildren, each of whom brought her enormous joy: Lily Byrne, Harper Delabar, Greyson Frazier and Madison Frazier. Diane cherished every moment spent with them, delighting in their presence and celebrating their lives. She is also survived by her dear sister Susan Leavitt, brother-in-law David Byrne and sister-in-law Eileen (Larry) King, niece Lauren King and nephew Thomas King.

Diane graduated from Weston High School in Weston, CT and Wells College in Aurora, NY. It was during her high school and college years that she developed friendships that she cherished throughout her life. After graduating from college, Diane worked in the banking industry for several years.

Diane's deep appreciation for music was woven into the fabric of her life. From the melodies she sang in college halls to her harmonies in church choirs, and culminating in her time with the Cincinnati Choral Society, music was her language of joy and connection. It was at St. Barnabas where she worked with the youth choir for almost 20 years where she found her greatest joy. Beyond her own performances, Diane inspired a love of song in others through her encouragement and support. She also gave generously of her time to lay leadership positions at St. Barnabas, in addition to being an Art Camp volunteer, Prayer Shawl ministry leader and various outreach activities.

Her compassion extended far beyond her immediate family. Friends and acquaintances remember Diane as someone who always offered a listening ear, wise counsel, or a comforting word. Her thoughtful nature and gentle humor fostered lasting bonds throughout her community, and she approached every relationship with warmth and sincerity. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all the lives she touched. A Celebration of Life will be held on September 13, 2025, at 11:00 am at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Montgomery, OH. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, September 12th from 5–7 pm and Saturday, September 13th from 10–11 am. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Matthew 25 Ministries or St. Barnabas Outreach and Music ministries.
