Diane Cimo Obituary

Diane E. Cimo, age 84, of Rome, passed away peacefully at home on August 17, 2024, with her loving family at her side.

She was born December 25, 1939, in Rome, the daughter of the late Donald L. and Avos C. Potts Pratt. She graduated from Rome Free Academy and attended Rochester Institute of Technology for Art, which she would later use to create beautiful decorum both at home and for others. Diane was united in marriage to Joseph J. Cimo, on June 6, 1959, a union of almost 62 years; he died on April 29, 2021. She worked for many years in the food and beverage industry, sharing her recipes and talents with many. Among those places were, the former Liberty Lane Restaurant, Mr C's Riverfront, Unwind Inn and Ivy Green's. From there she turned to caring for the elderly and her grandchildren whenever needed, which she dearly loved.

Diane was an avid gardener and was proud of her sprawling perennials which always drew attention from passersby.

Her favorite place to visit was the ocean and she spent many a vacation at her beloved Folly Beach in Charleston.

She loved to cook and care for her family and hosted the most generous events at her home for family and friends, which could never be outdone. She was also famous for her numerous Italian cookies, made for celebrations of all kinds, and were requested frequently.

Diane was a talented seamstress, needle worker, crocheter and crafter of all things, and enjoyed gifting and selling all. She was also an enthusiastic doll collector and doll house maker and enjoyed having those things around her.

Together, Diane and Pep had three children, Christy Cimo Scarafile, Marc Cimo, and Dawn (George) Hewitt. Also surviving are grandchildren, Salvatore Scarafile, Santina (Ben) Kenney, Nathaniel Hewitt and Jordan and Piper Cimo; a great grandchild, Emiliana Kenney; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by a brother, Donald B. Pratt.

The funeral service will be held on Friday at 3:00 PM, at Barry Funeral Home, 807 West Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 1 to 3 PM, prior to the funeral service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rome Humane Society in Diane's name.
