Diane Kay Deem, age 79, born on October 19, 1946, in Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 2, 2026, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. Diane's story is one defined by dedication, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to her community and family. Diane was born to Gilbert and Edna (Eilert) Thompson on October 19, 1946. Diane graduated from Rossford High School and attended Stautzenberger College.

Diane began working at Owens Community College as a secretary, eventually dedicating a significant portion of her career to Oregon City Schools. She served initially as a secretary to the school psychologists before transitioning into a role in attendance and finally serving as registrar. Her tenure at Clay High School was marked not only by her professional contributions but also by her enthusiastic involvement in supporting the school community. Diane regularly took on extra responsibilities, such as selling tickets, and was a devoted volunteer, including with the CHAFA organization, always finding ways to uplift and support the educational environment in which she worked. She retired from her position in 2015, leaving a legacy of commitment and service. Diane was known for her vibrant personality and the strong friendships she formed throughout her time at Clay High School. She had a large circle of friends who cherished her.

Diane had a passion for travel, often taking train rides to visit her daughter, delighting in trips to Disney World, and seeking out bodies of water, whether lakes, oceans, or pools. Her love for the arts was evident in her frequent visits to museums and enjoyment of watching art being created, showcasing her appreciation for creativity and culture.

She is survived by her children, Todd (Cindi) Deem, Tamara Deem, and John (Elizabeth Durocher) Deem; grandchildren, Helaina Krishna, Leslie Deem, Mary Deem, Jeffery Richardson, and Jordin Richardson; and great-granddaughter, Willah (Ruthie) Stevens. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Edna (Eilert) Thompson, and her husband, George Deem.

Her family and friends will forever remember Diane for her kindness, service-oriented spirit, and zest for life. Her impact on those around her will not be forgotten.
