Jan L. Ahart Deem, 84, of Williamstown, WV passed away on January 25th at Pineview Center, in Harrisville, Wv. She was born in Parkersburg, WV. She was a daughter of the late Charles W. and Geneva L. Clayton Ahart.
She retired from State Farm Insurance as a claim representative. She enjoyed music, singing, was a member of the Gospel Music Reunion choir. She volunteered with the City of Parkersburg Police Department. She was a Member of the First Baptist Church of Parkersburg, where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed gardening, painting, embroidering, and loved animals, especially dogs. Jan was very out going and her sister Sue once said, “she can make friends in a grocery line.”
She is survived by her one sister, Sue Adams, of Parkersburg, brother, Charles Ahart Jr. of Belpre, a niece, Shelly Galland(Ronnie) of Veto, OH. A great nephew Josh Galland(Leah) of Veto. Stepdaughter-In law Meg Deem of DePere, WI. A nephew, Bill Kimble(Maria) of PA, special friends, Buffy Workman, Doug and Pam Peele, Ben and Carolyn Gragg, and her Best Friend Sheila Edmonds(Bill).
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Elliott A. “ED” Deem, a sister Ethel Blair, step-son Charles Deem, sister-in-law Zora Boston and a niece, Amanda Blair.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday February 4th, 2026 1pm at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home Vienna, with Pastor Judi Bartlett-Tomes officiating, Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday February 3rd from 1-3pm, and One hour prior to the service Wednesday at the Funeral Home.
Memorial Donations in Memory of Jan may be made to the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley, at 90 Mt. Tom Road, Marietta, OH 45750.
