Diane Griffieth Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gregory B. Levett and Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory - Gwinnett Chapel on Oct. 22, 2025.
Diane Griffieth was born on December 17, 1957, to the late W.C. and Evelyn Lee (Padgett) Griffieth in Detroit, Michigan. At the early age of six, Diane's parents passed away within a year of each other. Diane and her five sisters were blessed to be raised by their paternal Uncle C.L. and wife Corean (Skelton) Griffieth, who preceded her in death. Diane was the third born of the six sisters.
Diane attended Cooley High School in Detroit, Michigan. As a preteen, Diane was baptized and accepted Christ as her savior at Oakland Avenue Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit. She joined the youth choir and sat beside her beloved cousin Celestine (Tina). Diane would make Tina have to cover her mouth in laughter with her jokes. Diane would wait every Sunday for her Uncle Deacon Thomas Cunningham (deceased) to pick her up for church service.
Diane was known for telling funny stories and jokes. Whenever company came over to visit, they would ask, "Where is Diane?" because they knew she would make them laugh and feel welcomed. Diane captured her audience's attention by acting out her stories through performances. She enjoyed dancing and listening to blues.
Diane became a mother in her early twenties with her first-born Jerome Lamar Griffieth in 1978 and Evelina Griffieth in 1981, who preceded her in death. She was a very attentive mother. Diane's rules were simple: Respect your elders, go to school, play nice and enjoy life. Diane's two children had plenty of cousins their age to play with during family gatherings.
Diane moved to Georgia in June 2023 to be with her son and his family as her health declined.
Diane made her transition on Monday, October 20, 2025 at Parkside Post Acute and Rehabilitation Center in Snellville, Georgia. She and her son prayed the evening before her departure. Her brothers; Curtis Jones Jr. Clarence Walker Jones, James Rowe Carrouth, and sister Eulavia Virginia Rodgers preceded her in death.
Diane Griffieth leaves to cherish her memories: son Jerome (LaKesha) Griffieth, grandchildren Ava Sage and Xavier Joshua of Lawrenceville, Georgia; sisters Reva (Ronald) Kelsey, Ruth Atwater, Melissa and Antionette Griffith; aunt Wilma Davis; Uncles Darries and Perry Griffith, all of Michigan; her cousin "Auntie" Shirley Cunningham-Shuffold of Detroit, who Diane spoke to practically everyday up to the point of her passing and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Ms. Diane Griffieth, 67, of Snellville, GA passed on Monday, October 20, 2025. Please express your condolences here on our website. Services entrusted to Gregory B. Levett & Sons Funeral Home, Gwinnett Chapel 914 Scenic Hwy., Lawrenceville, GA 30045. 770-338-5558
