Diane Horton was born on Sunday August 7, 1949 to the late Clifford Horton and Modiebell Scott in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was raised by Raymond Comier. For a short time, Diane lived in the Boogie Down Bronx before moving to Jersey City, New Jersey in the 1950's and finally relocating to Newark, New Jersey. In her early life she was educated in the Essex County School District, attending Fifteenth Avenue Elementary School. She later graduated from Westside High School. Diane became a nurse's aide and worked in various nursing homes and private residences in Morris Plains, New Jersey.
Diane met and dated Truman "Malik" Peterman. Together they had two children, Ayesha S. Horton and Rahim A. Horton. Diane's favorite things to do were dancing, playing cards, listening to oldies but goodies and staying up late nights. She also had a secret shopping obsession. Affectionately known as Madea, she will be well remembered for her playfulness and her bow-legs. She would often remind you of her Coca-Cola frame back in her heyday.
Diane is predeceased by her parents: Clifford Horton and Modiebell Scott (Enfield, NC); two sisters: Bernice Hunter (Newark, NJ) and Virginia Horton; her daughter: Ayesha S. Horton (Newark, NJ); her partner: Truman Peterman (Newark, NJ) and several beloved members of the Peterman family. She leaves to cherish her memory her son: Rahim A. Horton (Newark, NJ); one sister: Delores Horton (Newark, NJ); five grandchildren: Nafee Horton (Newark, NJ); Quadiyyah M. Winston (Georgia), Rahim N. W. Winston (Georgia), Treyvonn Horton (East Orange, NJ), and Ayesha Horton (Newark, NJ); close friend: Regina; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
