Diane Lopez Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Holley-Gamble Funeral Home, Inc. - Clinton on Mar. 27, 2026.
Diana Lopez
1959– 2026

Diana Lopez, 67, of Clinton, Tennessee, passed away suddenly on March 25, 2026. Her passing leaves a huge void in the lives of everyone who knew her, but she also left us with a lifetime of vibrant, happy memories to hold onto. Born in East Chicago, Indiana, to Esteban and Maria (Mary) Eva Guerrero-Lopez, Diana grew up in the Midwest before her adventurous spirit led her to follow her big brother, Steve, down to Clinton, TN, when she was just 18. Tennessee quickly became home, but she never lost the close-knit, family-first values she grew up with. Diana was a woman of incredible strength. Before she dedicated herself to being a wonderful mother, she worked as a guard at the Y-12 National Security Complex, a job that perfectly suited her protective nature. To know Diana was to know a truly welcoming soul. She was the undisputed glue of the Lopez family. Whether she was back in Indiana, home in Tennessee, or visiting siblings across the country, Diana made sure that when the family got together, it felt like no time had passed at all. Those gatherings were defined by the sound of loud, uncontrollable laughter over conversation, games, wonderful food, and her famous "strong opinions" (which were usually exactly what we needed to hear, even if we hadn't asked), and, of course, that damn whistle.

She loved the simple things: a good run, a long talk with a friend, and, above all else, being present for her people. She would drop everything in a heartbeat to help a neighbor or a relative and never expected a single thing in return. Diana is now reunited with her parents, Esteban and Maria (Mary), and her brothers, Steve and Daniel Lopez.

She leaves behind her devoted husband, Timothy Ray Dopel; her loving daughters, Sarah Danielle Hughes (Dominick Humphrey) and Maria Diana Dopel; and the absolute light of her life, her grandson Finley Duke Humphrey-her "Little Man."

She is also survived by her siblings: Sylvia Lopez Bonham (Bill), Steve's wife Teresa, David Lopez (Liz), Robert Lopez (Helena), and Mary Ann Dziepak (Terry), along with a small army of nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her humor and her huge heart every single day.

Diana was our glue. We'll remember her for her full heart, her constant willingness to help, and those opinions she never hesitated to share. While we didn't get to say a final goodbye, her voice will always be in our ears and her memory will live on in every laugh we share together.
