Susan Diane Howell Lowe, a beloved member of the community who dedicated her life to helping others, passed away on January 19, 2025, at Haywood Regional Medical Center. Born on April 1, 1956, in Haywood County, she was the daughter of Richard Howell and Mary Deane Rogers Davis, both of whom have preceded her in death.

Diane's career was marked by her compassionate spirit and her unwavering commitment to those in need. She began her professional journey as a secretary for Smoky Mountain Counseling before moving on to work at the Care House. Her entrepreneurial spirit shined through during her final role as co-owner of Lowe Fly Shop, a position she proudly held for 15 years. Her organizational skills and love for serving others were evident throughout her career, particularly in her interactions with individuals facing challenges, especially those with special needs.

Family was central to Diane's life, and she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. She is survived by her son, Brent Lowe, and his partner, Sierra Moses; one sister, Elaine Hyatt, along with her husband, Danny; one brother, Dean Howell, and his wife, Laura. Diane's legacy continues through her three grandchildren, Sylas, Alyssa, and Norah Lowe, who brought her immense joy. She also leaves behind one niece, Rachel Eaton, and her husband, Dan; as well as two nephews, Luke Howell and his wife, Kalei, and Ethan Howell and his wife, Brittney. Also surviving is the father of her son, Roger Lowe.

Diane had a profound love for animals, particularly dogs, and her bond with her dog Sophie was especially cherished. She will be remembered for her warm personality, her ability to connect with others, and her commitment to making the world a better place for those around her.
