Diane Gail MacDougall (Stevenson) – 1/13/35 – 08/12/2025

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Diane Gail MacDougall, 90, on August 12, 2025.

Born on January 13, 1935, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, MA, Diane was the beloved daughter of John and Muriel Stevenson of Chatham, MA. On May 8, 1954, she married the love of her life, James Peabody MacDougall, at the Methodist Church in Chatham. Together, they shared 55 wonderful years of marriage, filled with laughter, adventure, and devotion.

Diane and James made their home in Vermont, where they embraced the outdoors-hiking, skiing, sailing, swimming, and camping at every opportunity. After retiring in 1987, they moved to New Bern, NC, where they enjoyed the beauty of the coast, long walks on the beach, and traveling throughout the South.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Muriel Stevenson; her husband, James P. MacDougall; her son, Glenn MacDougall (Pam) of Covington, LA; and her brother, Colin Stevenson (Jane) of Harwich, MA.

Diane's memory will be cherished by her daughter, Sharon Wilkerson (Mike) of New Bern; her sister, Sharon Desnoyer (Pete) of Sun City, AZ; her granddaughter, Jennifer Wells (Todd) of Madisonville, LA; and her grandson, Parker Woodside of Madisonville, LA. She will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, love of family, and zest for life.

Per Diane's request, no services will be held. Her family asks that loved ones honor her memory in their own way-whether by enjoying a walk in nature, taking a moment at the beach, or simply sharing a story that brings a smile.
