Obituary published on Legacy.com by Oakwood Funeral Home and Crematory - Maplewood on Oct. 1, 2025.
Early in the morning on May 11th, 2025 Diane Nancy Motley peacefully passed away with her
husband and her daughter by her side. Diane fought with a super valiant effort, 100%
determined that she would beat it, but unfortunately cancer had other plans.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents Arley and Elaine Steinmetz as well as Jennifer's
father, Greg Hoover.
Diane is survived by her husband, Randy Motley; her daughter, Jennifer Hoover (Dody); her
sister, Janice Ellis (Kenneth); her brother, Michael Steinmetz; her sister-in-law, Sandy Buerkley;
her nieces and nephews, Scott (Sarah), Michele (Marton), Dana (Dale), Teri, and Eric (Jenny);
Her furbabies, Rudy and Benji; many great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends that are
really family.
Diane was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to many who will miss her
more than words can explain. She spent the last 14 years of her work life as a truck driver with
her trusted partner and soul mate, Randy. Prior to that she worked at West Publishing for almost
30 years. She was a very dedicated person and when she put her mind to it, nothing could stop
her. She loved the outdoors and was Randy's best fishing partner any day of the week. She
enjoyed League bowling for many years, watching the Vikings and the Twins play their games
and she was a pillar in her family. Diane was a good listener and a solid community and family
member with a willingness to help whenever you needed it. She was full of spunk, sarcasm,
laughter and often was the life of the party and the "go getter" to get things started. She was
also a problem solver, jumping in and figuring things out without hesitation. She could talk to
everyone and anyone and always made them feel welcomed when they were in her presence. If
you were having a gathering of any kind, Diane is someone that you would want there to ensure
good conversation, human compassion, and smiles all around.
A Celebration of Life for Diane will be held Friday, May 16 from 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM with a time of
sharing around 4:30 PM. The family would love to hear warm stories of how Diane touched your
life during this time. Location for this celebration is: Oakwood Funeral Home- 2585 Stillwater
Road E.,
Maplewood, MN 55119.
