Diane M. Nebe (née Feldhahn), age 78 of Joliet, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care with her loving family by her side.
Born March 14, 1946 in Chicago, Diane was the daughter of Delbert and Frances Feldhahn.
Diane was raised in the Chicagoland area and resided in Joliet for many years. She worked at and retired from Pactiv Corporation in Frankfort, IL.
Her retirement took her to Ft. Myers Florida. Diane enjoyed the sunshine and loved volunteering at ARC (Animal Refuge Center) in North Ft. Myers, Florida. It was from ARC that Diane fostered her beloved dogs, Samantha and Ellie May until their passing.
Diane moved back to Joliet in 2021 to reside with her son and daughter-in-law, enjoying retirement and traveling to see friends and relatives in many states. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed being with them.
Diane is survived by her loving son Michael and daughter-in-law Karen Nebe. Other survivors include her cousins; Marlene Anderson, Jennifer Anderson, Gail Barnard, special sister-in-law/friend Donna Saggione; stepchildren, Lynn (Michael) Gruver and Ed Nebe.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Delbert and Frances (née Hillman) Feldhahn; a brother, Wayne Feldhahn and her beloved pit bull dogs, Samantha and Ellie May.
Diane’s love and kindness touched the hearts all who knew her. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. The family would like to thank Pastor Jake Garcia from Crossroads Christian Church, special nurses at Ascension St. Joseph Hospital and the staff of Lightways Hospice for their care of Diane during her brief stay.
A Celebration of Diane's life will begin with a memorial visitation on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, 1500 Black Road, Joliet, IL 60435, from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 12:00 p.m., Pastor Jake Garcia officiating.
Private graveside services will be held for Diane and she will be laid to rest beside her mother.
In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials in Diane’s memory to an animal rescue of your choice are appreciated.
Per Diane’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded.
