Richard Nebe Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Graham Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Feb. 10, 2026.
Richard H. Nebe passed away on February 7, 2026.

He was born on November 5, 1940, in Corning, New York, to the late Harry S. Nebe and Agnes "Madeline" Nebe. He graduated from Hammondsport High School before enlisting in the United States Navy. Richard proudly served his country for 28 years as an Electronics Technician, retiring with the rank of Senior Chief.

On December 22, 1962, Richard married the love of his life, Mary Ellen Peacock. They shared 63 wonderful years of marriage together. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and his family was the center of his world. Richard and Mary Ellen were blessed with four children, seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Beyond his dedication to the Navy, Richard was passionate about college football, especially his beloved Slippery Rock University. He could often be seen proudly sporting gear from "The Rock." Richard and Mary Ellen loved to travel together, exploring destinations throughout the United States and abroad. Richard cherished time spent with his granddaughters and joyfully passed down his love of music by sharing it with them. He was a familiar and comforting presence in the audience at dance recitals, chorus concerts, and countless milestone moments, always there to offer encouragement and support. A man of service to both country and community, Richard was a devoted supporter of St. Mary's Home, where he spearheaded battery drives for many years. He was also a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Mary Ellen; his daughters, Patricia Blair (Edward) and Jodie Burdette (Gary); his son, Richard Nebe Jr. (Tammy); and his son-in-law, David Maresca. He is lovingly remembered by his granddaughters, Lyndsay (Ken), Allyson, Shelby, Amie, and Emma; his great-grandchildren, Coltyn, Brinley, Luca, and Baker; and his siblings, Anne Jordan and David Nebe.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary's Home 6171 Kempsville Circle, Norfolk, VA 23502.

The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home and Crematory, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake, on Friday, February 13, 2026, from 5-7pm. A service to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 11 am with a catered reception to follow in the reception center. To Mary Ellen and Family. Our sincere condolences to you and the entire Nebe family on Richard´s passing. Richard and I spent many summers at our Grandparents farm having the time of our lives. We did things that Grandma and Grandpa never knew about or at least Grandma never told Grandpa of the things we did. Unfortunately we will not be able to attend Richard´s services, but our thoughts and prayers will be with you all on Saturday.

Best regards
Neil and Judy Keib

Mary Ellen and family, We are sorry to hear of Rich's passing. All of you were favorite guests. And actually our first out of town guests. Rich will be missed. He always loved to talk about his family. And tell stories of spending time on our grandparents farm and from their Barnes Corners home. He even would call to see how much snow we had on Tug Hill. Try to keep the good memories close. Just imagine the stories being told in heaven this week. Wish we were closer so we could be there with you.
