Gary Frisk Obituary
BELMONT - Gary J. Frisk, 78, of 19 Willard St., passed away Saturday (Feb. 25, 2023) at Olean General Hospital, following a brief illness.
He was born June 2, 1944, in the Town of Urbana, the son of the late James and Vivian S. Clayson Frisk. On Dec. 31, 1977, in Caneadea, he married Ethel V. Cassady, who survives.
Gary was a 1962 graduate of Hammondsport High School.
He was first employed by the Taylor Wine Company in Hammondsport in the 1960s. In October of 1971, he began his 35-year career with the Belmont Police Department as a part-time police officer, and retired as chief of police in May of 2006.
He served on the Belmont Village Board, he was an avid golfer and enjoyed watching the New York Yankees and the Buffalo Bills. He loved family events, cooking, grilling and his beloved canine companion, "Roscoe."
Surviving in addition to his wife Ethel are two daughters, Brenda (Kurt) Schmidt of Hammondsport and Kathleen (Dan) Moran of Nunda; six grandchildren, Amanda Jadwin, Christopher Schmidt, Jessica (Brandon) Schmidt-Monin, Matthew (Miranda) Moran, Kevin (Faith) Moran and Megan (Tyler) Colegrove; as well as eight great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased, in addition to his parents, by an infant daughter, Deborah.
Friends are invited to call from 10 a.m. until noon Thursday (March 2, 2023) at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc, 17 Schuyler St., in Belmont. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow visitation at 12:30 p.m. at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Church in Belmont. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
