Diane entered my life when I was just a kid. She was standing in my grandmother's living room with her daughter Stacey, visiting from the United States. For me, they were our "American cousins", a VIP role in my family. I could not speak much English with them, but I do remember how they shared a beautiful smile.
I would lie if I said that I had a long relationship with Diane, unfortunately the distance, the language barrier, and the cost of calls made our families distant.
I reconnected with her and her wonderful sister Janice later in my life, when thanks to learning English and personal interest, I found myself writing to her on Facebook and visiting them in Minnesota and Boston. In 2018, I wrote to her since I had been accepted to rotate at hospitals in Boston, MA. I told her that I could visit her while I was there. Without even asking, Diane immediately offered me to stay in her beautiful condo for 3 months. Diane was always very generous. Of those days I will remember her busy schedule (many dance parties), her smile, her stories, and her strong sense of justice and fairness.
Little did I know that thanks to that opportunity I would land my first job in the US, therefore my first visa and the first step to move to the US. Diane was one of the most consequential people in my life. She and her sister significantly impacted my life and career, but that is not what I am most grateful for.
What I am most grateful for is a lunch where Marina and I cooked together pasta alla norma for her and beloved Nance in Ptown. One night spent dancing in St Pete in Florida. And how Diane, Janice and I ended up getting the largest free slice of carrot cake I have ever seen. We have had beautiful moments together, and I know many others can say the same.
As you used to say, Ciao Diane.

Diane was introduced to our family by way of Peter Neumann, she quickly became a vital limb on our family tree.
Her beautiful smile and love of life will bring joy to me forever.
Diane, you will be missed, but will live on in all of us who were blessed to have known and loved you, thanks Diane!
