Diane Louise (Fredrickson) Rioux, 69, of Wallingford, CT passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, September 29, 2025, after a long illness. She was the loving mother of Keith J. Fredrickson.
Diane was born on March 2, 1956 to Nancy (Smith) Rioux and Arthur Oliver Rioux.
She was predeceased by her Dad Arthur Oliver Rioux, her mom Nancy (Rioux) Morin, her brother Arthur James Rioux, stepdad Mourice Morin and sister Frances Jaczuk, as well as her grandparents and many aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her son, Keith J. Fredrickson of New London, CT, her sister Linda (Rioux) Gray of Cedar Island, North Carolina, Sister-in-law Linda Rioux or Meriden, CT., Nieces Faythe Rioux of Meriden, CT, Jessica Handley and husband Howard of Merrimack, NH, and Jennifer Jaczuk of Billerica, Massachusetts, her nephew Jeff Jaczuk and his wife Ellen of Billerica, Massachusetts along with numerous loving cousins. She was also survived by many VERY dear friends that were more like family to her.
Diane was born in Middletown. She was raised in Middlefield where she went to school and lived for most of her life. She graduated and went on to receive her certificate to become a C.N.A. She worked and retired after 30 years from Highview Nursing Home in Middletown as well as numerous skilled nursing facilities. She also received her certificate for Phlebotomy in South Carolina.
Diane loved to knit and crochet. She also loved animals, especially her precious Melissa who was a very special part of her life as well as her friend's dog "Hershey Kisses." They were very dear to her heart and brought her much joy and happiness. Diane was an amateur photographer and enjoyed taking photos of flowers & different scenery along with meaningful events. She took great pride in the professional quality of these beautiful photos and would share them with her friends and loved ones.
Family and friends were a very important part of her life and she looked forward to family gatherings and quality time with her friends. She had reconnected with some of her cousins and they became like sisters. Most of all Diane loved to laugh and her goal in life was to put a smile on everyone's face. She herself always had a smile on her face and a kind word or a joke to make people happy. Being considerate to everyone and never judging was part of her nature. She always made people comfortable when with her. In her later years she called getting around "toodling around".
Diane was a very sweet kind soul who will be very sorely missed by all that knew and loved her and whose lives she touched.
We would like to give a special thank you to the facilities that gave love and care to Diane during the last days of her life.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 13th at 10:00 am at Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church Street, Middletown. A burial will follow in Middlefield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Diane would like people to make a donation to the ASPCA or to their favorite animal charity of their choice.
