Diane Ross Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 26, 2020.
Diane Luna Ross, age 77, passed away due to heart failure complicated by pneumonia, and kidney failure. Diane had lived in South San Jose, CA since 1972. She was born to Charlie and Melba Luna and raised in Vallejo, CA then Lafayette, CA where she graduated from Acalanes High School. She was in the Madrigal Choir at Diablo Valley College, and then earned her BA in Music, and teaching credential in music education from San Jose State University. She was a member of the "Choraliers" at SJSU. Diane was married to Charles Ross Jr. in Schwandorf, Germany in 1968. Charlie was stationed at the US Army base in Hohenfels after being drafted due to the war in Vietnam. After returning to California, Diane and Charlie had two daughters, Cristina Ross McClelland and Maria LaMance. Diane taught vocal music weekly as a volunteer in her daughters' elementary classrooms, and her granddaughter's classroom also. Diane taught choir and music appreciation at Modesto Jr HS and Crittenden middle school in Mountain View. She also was a general education teacher for Santa Clara County schools including WFJ Boys Ranch in Morgan Hill and Calero High School. Diane loved opera, art, and the ballet. She created costumes for local youth productions of the Nutcracker, and continued to take adult ballet classes. Diane was able to be a significant caregiver for both her granddaughter, Luna McClelland, and her grandson, Rocco Mancini. There will be a virtual memorial via zoom on Sunday, Oct 18th, 2020.

So many memories, but not enough of Diane
The generous smile and being every time I was with her,
no matter how she was feeling. She was amazing.
The way you dressed and put colors together, Wow!
Performances in the Nutcracker and how much you enjoyed
being with Charlie and the children in the performance.
Loving your girls and their children..
Our Christmas caroling at Nancy and Bob's, you loved playing the
piano and letting your beautiful voice lead us.
You will be missed, Ginger

Diane was a lovely, kind, gentle soul who was always generous with her time for the many children in our family. We had the privilege of living a few doors down from Diane and Charlie for many years. We watched their two beautiful daughters grow up and they were always available for a friendly neighbor conversation, to help with a child’s homework, or just a little adult to child lecture.
We loved Diane’s spirit and I know she will be missed tremendously.
May your sweet reunion with Charlie be everlasting!

Diane was a beautiful light and will be deeply missed. Our children (Jaedon and Charisma) have fond memories when we lived on Manton street with both Charlie and Diane. They were the family that everyone trusted who were kind, giving, and often took it upon themselves to watch the neighborhood and they cared deeply for their neighbors and family. Our sincerest condolences. I know she will shine in heaven playing beautiful music on the piano.
