Diane Jo Smith, a beloved member of the Tahlequah community, peacefully passed away on February 10, 2024, at the age of 67 in her hometown of Tahlequah, OK. She was born on September 5, 1956, and was proud of her American Indian heritage.
Diane will be forever cherished and remembered by her loving children, Lynzi Smith, Arno Gann, Mitchell Smith, sisters, Barbara Garrison, and Paula Bluebird, brothers, Larry Bluebird, and David Bluebird, companion, Austin Harvey, grandchildren, Brianna Fields, Garrison Fields, Ryan Fields, Kennah Cortes, Zaylin Barger, and Jacob Barger, along with many other loving family members and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Diane was a descendant of the Redbird Smith family and was a first language Cherokee speaker.
The funeral service for Diane Jo Smith will be held on, Friday, February 16, 2024, at 11:00 am at the Hart Funeral Home in Tahlequah, OK. Prior to the funeral service, a public viewing will take place on Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 5:00 pm until 7 pm at the Hart Funeral Home. Family, friends, and those who wish to pay their respects are welcome to attend the viewing and funeral service.
In remembrance of Diane's passion for nature, gardening, and wildlife, her burial will take place following the funeral service. She found solace in the tranquility of her garden and enjoyed watching the wonders of nature. Diane's love for cooking and her knack for preparing delicious meals will forever be remembered by those fortunate enough to have tasted her creations. She also found joy in relaxing and watching football games; her spirit will be present during those moments of excitement and camaraderie.
Diane Jo Smith's warm heart, kindness, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the community she called home. As we say farewell to her, let us take solace in the memories we shared and carry her love and spirit in our hearts.
May she rest in eternal peace.
