Dianne DiNicola Obituary

Dianne Rose (Sawick) DiNicola, 82 of Pittsfield, MA died Monday August 18, 2025 at her home.

She was born in Pittsfield, MA on February 11, 1943, a daughter of William and Lucille (Senchuk) Sawick. She graduated from Pittsfield High School.

Dianne was a homemaker who loved to cook and host family gatherings. She devoted her time to varied volunteer efforts throughout her life and worked part-time in different capacities after raising her family.

She was tremendously creative with many hobbies including china painting, knitting, sewing, embroidery, genealogy and flower arrangement. She had a beautiful, feisty spirit, instilling the importance of love and family, and fiercely proud of her Ukrainian heritage. Holidays spent with "Mamie" were filled with magical memories. Her enthusiasm and spirit, especially for the 4th of July and Christmas, were infectious.

She was a communicant of St. Charles Borromeo Church and a longtime communicant of St. Mary Morningstar Church. When the church closed, she served as church historian, writing a treasured book detailing its history, architecture, and exquisite stained glass. When the church campus was in danger of being torn down, Dianne spear-headed the formation of the "Friends of St Mary's" committee, which ultimately was successful in repurposing the church and its entire campus into beautiful apartments, where she resided the last years of her life.

She was the widow of Carlo DiNicola, Jr., her soulmate, who died on November 15, 2014. They were married on May 25, 1963. Survivors include two daughters, Lori R. Esposito and her husband, Robert Jr., of Rotterdam, NY and Tammy A. Cracolici and her husband, Anthony of Pittsfield, MA. Dianne and Carlo's six grandchildren are Thomas, Joseph and Nathan Cracolici; Robert (Pauline) Esposito III, Gabrielle (Christian) Tiffin and Joshua Esposito. She leaves one sister, Nancy (Fredric) DeSantis of Washington, MA; a sister-in-law, Diane Harris and many beloved and extended family members and dear friends.
