Dianne DeLashmit Neff, 86 of North Salem, Indiana, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2024. She was born September 4, 1938, to Sam and Lucille DeLashmit. She was raised by her mother's brother, Fred Smith and his wife, Nina, in North Salem. In 1957, she married Robert J. (Joe) Neff. They had two children, Randall J. Neff (Kim) and Elaine Burkhard. She had four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; parents, Sam and Lucille DeLashmit and Fred and Nina Smith; brothers, Tom DeLashmit and Bill DeLashmit; sister, Lois Frazier; and son-in-law, Bill Burkhard.
She worked at North Salem Post Office, Lastec Mowers, and the State of Indiana Internal Revenue Department. She was a proud farm wife through it all. She served on several boards including PMH (NS Ambulance) Hendricks County Extension, North Salem United Methodist Church, and Old Fashioned Days. She was a former member of the North Salem Eastern Star and Young Moderns Extension Homemakers. She volunteered at Jamestown Library, the Indy 500 Festival, 2001 World Police and Fire Games, Historical Society, and North Salem Alumni Association.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024, at North Salem United Methodist Church, from 10 am to 12 pm, with the funeral service beginning at 12 pm. Dianne will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in North Salem, Indiana following the service.
