Dianne R. Olson, age 72 of Cottage Grove, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on October 25, 2024.

Funeral service will be 12:00 pm Thursday, October 31, 2024 with visitation starting at 11:00 am until the time of service at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 80th Street S., Cottage Grove. Private interment will be held at Cottage Grove Cemetery.

Dianne Rose Olson was born August 9, 1952 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Marvin and Louise Schmidt. She grew up in St. Paul Park and graduated from Park High School in 1970. She started her career at Picker Medical Supply before securing a long-term position at 3M in 1981. Dianne was a part of the 3M Club Committee where she facilitated numerous connectivity events such as picnics and Christmas parties through the years. She received many achievement awards during her career at 3M, retiring in 2017 after 36 years of service.

Dianne met Steve in 1980 and they were united in marriage the following year. They resided in Cottage Grove and enjoyed 43 years together. They raised two daughters, which were her pride and joy and also found time to give Molly and Mitzie, the family dogs plenty of attention. Through the years, she and Steve enjoyed baking spritz cookies, bars and apple crisp. Dianne regularly sat down with Steve to watch her favorite shows: Judge Judy, House Hunters, Blondie, The Price is Right and cheering on the MN Vikings.

She enjoyed time spent at the family cabin, whether it was in Brainerd, Merrifield or Holcombe, she always looked forward to taking "Putz" (the golf cart) out for a joy ride.

Dianne was very sociable and enjoyed bowling, dart league, bingo, cross-stitch, "the girls'" birthday luncheons, card club, craft shows with her daughters and family game time.

When it came time for Christmas, she always had the most beautiful tree filled with crystal ornaments and the Thomas Kincade calendar nearby. She always made sure that the family was together for the holidays and time was set aside to do the holiday shopping with her daughters.

She will always be remembered for valuing honesty as well as her generous heart for others. Dianne was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and GiGi. She is truly loved and will be forever missed.

Dianne is survived by her husband Steven; daughters Kandee (Tom) Geiger and Katrina Olson; grandchildren Kayla (Jon), Marisa, Allen, Kyleigh and Drew; great-grandchildren Peyton and Blake; brother Al (Cindy). She is preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Louise Schmidt; brothers Ron (Julie) and Robert.
