Dick Boocher Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Smith & Sons Funeral Home-Miller Chapel - South Whitley on Apr. 15, 2025.
Dick Eugene Boocher, 79, of rural South Whitley, passed away at 9:25 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester.
Born on September 22, 1945, in Wabash County, Indiana, he was a son of the late Oscar and Eileen (Miller) Boocher. He grew up raising hogs and cattle on a farm near Sidney. He graduated from Sidney High School in 1964.
In 1969, he went to work for Essex Wire, Columbia City, in their warehouse for 35 years. After the sales of Essex and eventual closure, Dick went to work with RR Donnelley in Warsaw in 2004. He retired in 2010.
He was never married but had many nieces and nephews. He loved to hunt, fish, and be with his friends. When mushrooms were in season, he enjoyed hunting, preparing, and eating the delectables. He had a big heart for family and friends, and he will be missed by those who knew him. He attended Eel River Brethren Church.
Surviving are his siblings, Robert (Tamara) Boocher of Pierceton and Marilyn Perryman of Rensselaer, and many nieces and nephews.
Additionally, he was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Boocher.
Dick desired to have no services. His cremains will be interred at the Fairview Cemetery in Servia. Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley.
Memorials in Dick's honor are to the Eel River Community Church of the Brethren.
