Dick Bremer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by St. John's Family Funeral Home & Crematory on Jan. 19, 2026.
Dick Bremer, age 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 16, 2026.

Dick was born on May 5, 1945, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Woodson and Faith Bremer. He later moved to California, where he graduated from Emil R. Buchser Senior High School in Santa Clara.

On May 13, 1966, Dick married the love of his life, Barbara Bremer. Together they shared nearly six decades of marriage, building a life rooted in devotion to family, hard work, and shared adventure.

Dick proudly served in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1969 as an Aviation Electronics Technician and Flight Communications Operator, earning an honorable discharge. His service sparked a lifelong passion for aviation, and he later earned his Private Pilot Certificate, accumulating thousands of flight hours.

Dick enjoyed a long and accomplished career in construction, design, aviation, and public service. He worked as a design draftsman, chief draftsman, carpenter foreman, superintendent, vice president and co-owner of Mandarin Marine, Inc., and later as President and Owner of First Coast Aerial Photography, Inc. From 1993 forward, he served as a Certified Uniform Building Code Inspector for Duval County Public Schools, where he was respected for his expertise, integrity, and commitment to safety.

A lifelong learner, Dick pursued education in building construction, business administration, marine mechanics, and aviation electronics. He was previously a member of Wesconnett Masonic Lodge and Morocco Shrine, reflecting his commitment to fellowship, service, and giving back to the community.

Dick is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Bremer; his children, Richard Bremer, Deniece Bremer, and Lori Braatz; his grandchildren, Ryan (Krista), Amanda (Danny), Brittany (Tyler), Mitchell, and Nicholas; his six great-grandchildren, Hudson, Savannah, Titus, Oren, Brayden, and Madison; his sister Ann Loveland and his nieces and nephews.

Above all else, Dick will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and a man whose life was defined by service, curiosity, and unwavering dedication to those he loved.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 24, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Johns Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

We will be live streaming the service for family and friends who are unable to make it.
