Didi Gunawan

Didi Gunawan, 83, of Marlboro, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 28, 2025, at CentraState Medical Center, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born in Indonesia, Didi embarked on a new chapter when he moved to the United States, where he built a fulfilling life and career.

A dedicated and talented Civil Engineer, Didi worked for Parsons Transportation until his retirement. He approached his work with integrity and precision and was deeply respected by his colleagues. Beyond his professional life, Didi had a passion for tennis, soccer and chess, and in his spare time, he could often be found playing sudoku. He will be remembered for his warmth, wisdom, and quiet strength.

Didi was predeceased by his beloved parents, Ang Gwan Kie and Lie Lian Nio and baby sister Ang Gwat Bie. He is survived by his devoted wife, Maria Gunawan; his cherished daughter, Cynthia Gunawan Scura, and her husband, Stephen Scura; his loving siblings, Farida (Puck) Gunawan and her husband, Surya Djohan, and Iwan Gunawan and his wife, Dr. Rita Gunawan and his sister Janita (Jani) Gunawan and her husband, Ronny. He also leaves behind three adoring grandchildren: Jackson, Liani, and Kirana Scura, who brought immense joy to his life.
