With profound sadness and enduring shock, we announce that Dimitri Alexander Reed died suddenly and unexpectedly at home in Richmond after a tragic accident on February 18, 2025. He was 23 years old.
Dimitri will be remembered for his humor, kindness, and incredible artistry with handblown glasswork. His passion for his art and work manifested in many beautiful handmade gifts and demonstrations for his family and friends. His pride in his glass blowing was his most recent accomplishment, but throughout his short life, he quickly mastered anything he granted the honor of his focus. His work reflected the way he moved through life-full of creativity, calm patience, and unquenchable curiosity for the way things work.
He was a beloved son, brother, and uncle; a fiercely loyal friend; and a kind soul who brought his warmth, non judgemental acceptance, and humor to all who had the privilege of his company. It is difficult to articulate just how much Dimitri's family, friends, and acquaintances will miss him.
Dimitri is survived by his loving family including his father, Earl W. Reed, III; his brothers, Lucas and Christopher Reed; his sisters-in-law Kaylee Contois and Rebecca Reed; and his niece and nephew. He is also survived by many loving family members across Vermont, Texas, and California. He is preceded in death by his mother Catherine Gauthier Reed.
A celebration of Dimitri's life is planned for June 2025 with the exact date and location to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, Dimitri's family asks that his memory be honored by supporting local artists. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Dimitri, please visit our Tree Store.
