Dixie Antol Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary and Cemetery - Scottsdale on Aug. 9, 2023.
Dixie Lee Antol, 79, of Scottsdale, AZ, passed away on August 1st, 2023, after a long and
courageous battle with advanced lung cancer.
Dixie was born on September 24th, 1943, in Wausau, Wisconsin, to Bernice Baneck. She was raised by both Bernice and Harold Kuehling in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. Dixie attended Oak Creek High School, where she met her husband Jerry while riding the school bus. Jerry and Dixie became married on December 31st, 1962, and the two recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. In 1968, Dixie relocated to Dyer, IN after Jerry took a job as a crane operator in Chicago and Dixie remained home to raise their children. Dixie gave birth to her first son, Donald, in 1964, and to their second son, Thomas, in 1970. In 2003, the pair moved to Scottsdale, AZ to be closer to their children and grandchildren and to enjoy retirement in the sun.
Dixie loved her family more than anything. She was the true "matriarch" of the Antol family. Dixie devoted her life to her children and grandchildren and never missed an important date, a school function, or a kid's sporting event. She enjoyed cooking and hosted countless family dinners, which were always full of laughter and smiles. Dixie enjoyed gardening, putting together puzzles, and shopping. She spent nearly every day playing card games and Yahtzee with her grandchildren while watching Hallmark movies on repeat. She very much enjoyed a night out at the casino and playing with her "scratchers". Dixie cherished having dogs throughout her lifetime, but especially enjoyed the company of her cat Cricket in her later years.
Dixie is preceded in death by her parents, Bernice and Harold, her four brothers, Dale, Gary, Gene, and Dennis, as well as her son Don. She is survived by her loving husband Jerry, son Tom, daughter-in-law Sherry (Jonathan), grandchildren Kevin (Alicia), Nicole (Jon), and Rachel, as well as her sister Connie (Dale) and nephew Nick, along with many other relatives and close friends.
A celebration of her life will be held at their home on September 24th, on her 80th birthday
