Dixie Lee (Martin) Boyse 88 of Alburnett passed away peacefully at her home Wednesday July 26th, 2023. Dixie was born September 20, 1934 in Cedar Rapids Iowa, the daughter of James E and OraLee (Brody) Martin. She graduated from Alburnett High School in 1952 and attended 1 year of college.
On December 23rd 1954, in Oxford Iowa she was united in marriage to Donn William Boyse. She was employed by Wendy Oaks, Rockwood "Bucky" Store, Senator Dick Clark, Congressman Michael Blouin and the Abbey Center. Dixie was the proudest of the work she had done with the Democratic party and being employed to manage the Cedar Rapids office along with open office hours though out the 2nd district for both Senator Dick Clark and Congressman Michael Blouin. After retiring Dixie returned to Rockwood Store to volunteer at the Alburnett Historical Society, later being elected President. She enjoyed working with the school to bring the elementary students down to the store to learn about the history of the Alburnett Community.
Dixie Lee Boyse is survived by her daughters Debra (Randy) Sweet; Marcia (Greg Arendsee) Boyse; Sister Jane Bremmer; Daughter in Law Sandy Boyse; and Sister-in-Law Denise Martin. Grandchildren Hilary (TJ) West; Katherine Sweet; Trisha (Shane) Leahy; Lee (Kaitlin) Boyse; Easton Beshears; Marcie (Steve) Schoen; as well as many great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Dixie was proceeded in death by her husband Donn W Boyse, son Martin Boyse, parents James and Oralee Martin, and brother James "Jimmy" D Martin.
We extend an invitation to friends and family to join us at her home for a celebration of Dixie's life Saturday August 12th from 1 to 4. Our intentions are to show that as long as we remember her a piece of her will always be with us.
