Dixie L. Duckett, 89, of East Moline, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at Generations at Rock Island.
There will be no public services. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established in Dixie’s memory.
The former Dixie Lee VanMeter was born April 21, 1936, in Moline, the daughter of William and Bernadine (Allen) VanMeter. She married Robert J. Duckett and the couple had two children prior to separating.
Dixie graduated from the University of Iowa and went on to work as a dental hygienist. She was a member of First Congregational Church, Moline, and also volunteered at the John Deere Classic for many years.
She enjoyed knitting, playing tennis and golf, and was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan.
Dixie is survived by two children, Kevin (Cathy) Duckett of Moline, and Cindy (Jeff) Bialobreski of Aledo, Illinois; three grandchildren, Carly (Mike Heaton) Bialobreski, Jessa House, and Michael Duckett; several great-grandchildren including Zane, Cole, and Rylee Frick; and a sister, Rosalie Roman. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Mick Roman.
