Dixie Lee Hayes, 86, of Hutchinson, died December 16, 2025, at Reflection Living in Hutchinson. She was born September 20, 1939, in Oberlin, to Dorce L. and Elsie E. (Wurm) Hayes.

Dixie graduated from Hutchinson High School and Wichita State University. She was the bookkeeper at Hayes Sight & Sound for many years before retiring. Dixie was an avid Chiefs fan and season ticket holder for 15 years. She loved knitting and spent every Tuesday afternoon with her knitting group at "Yarn". Dixie enjoyed playing cards and belonged to a bi-weekly card group of friends. She loved to travel and Maui was her favorite vacation island.

Dixie is survived by: her brother, Rick Hayes (Deb White) of Hutchinson; sister-in-law, Alice Jane Hayes of Hutchinson; nephews, Darin Hayes (Sara) and their children of Wichita, and Devon Hayes (Stacy) and their children of Hutchinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jay Dee Hayes.

Cremation has taken place.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Hutchinson Art Center, 405 N. Washington St., Hutchinson.

Friends may sign her memorial book from 9 a.m.to 5 p.m. Monday thru Saturday at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cancer Council of Reno County or Hutchinson Art Center, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
