Jacksonville- Dixie Bell Morton, 94, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, September 25, 2025, with her children by her side. She was born October 4, 1930, in Bear Creek, NC, a daughter of the late Ed and Mary Waters Bell.

A funeral service will be held Monday, September 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Jones Funeral Home-Swansboro. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Queens Creek Methodist Church Cemetery in Hubert.

Dixie was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends. She was an excellent gardener known for her ability to root and give life to nearly anything. She was also a great cook with an innate gift that allowed her to turn the simplest ingredients into delicious meals. Her travels included trips to England, France, Germany, Canada, Mexico and nearly every state in the union. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Mark Morton (Martha) of Jacksonville, Gail King of Bear Creek, and Steve Morton (Jeanette) of Valdosta, GA; daughter-in-law, Alice Morton of Hubert; her grandchildren, Stephanie (Mark), Lisa (Jacob), Alex, Jeffery (Tiffany), Jennifer, Jessica (Jadiel), and Sherry (Darrell); and ten great grandchildren.

She was welcomed into Heaven by her husband, Lewis Edward Morton and her son, Gary Morton, and a host of siblings and friends who had gone on before her.

The family would like to thank the caring staff of Lower Cape Fear LifeCare. Their support and compassion will always be remembered and greatly appreciated.
