Dixie Louise Torka of Caro, age 81, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, June 1, 2025. Dixie was born on May 3, 1944 in Shirley, Arkansas to the late Hershel and Bramlette (Simkins) Carroll. She married Lonnie Gene Copeland in 1960 and spent over thirty loving years together until his passing on April 7, 1993. In 2013, Dixie married James A. Torka and spent the remainder of her life by his side.
Dixie was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her devotion to God and her family was unwavering, and her love for them knew no bounds.
Left to cherish Dixie's memory are her husband, James Torka; her children, Lonnie Wayne (Elissa) Copeland, Jimmy Doyle (Hazel) Copeland, and Jamie Torka; and grandchildren, Jimmy (Delila) Copeland, Sarah Copeland, Victoria Rose Rathburn, and Luke (Aiyana) Whisnant. In addition to her first husband and parents, Dixie was preceded in death by her brothers, Dale, Jesse, Dock (Jim), and Bob Carroll; and sister, Polly Hendrickson.
She will be deeply missed by her many cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless other loving family members and friends
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Living Promise Fellowship in Flushing, 7457 Elms Road, Flushing Township, MI 48433. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Living Promises Fellowship.
