Our loving father, grandfather, and brother, John A. Torka died early Sunday morning, May 7, 2023 in the arms of his family at From The Heart Assisted Living. John was born February 7, 1941 to the late Edward and Dorothy (Bukowski) Torka in Bay City, Michigan. John met the love of his life, Paula Dalton and later married her on November 21, 1975, she preceded him in death in 2009. He joined the United States Army early in life and later devoted many years working for General Motors Gray Iron Foundry before retiring in 2009.
Throughout his life, John had a strong work ethic and was strongly devoted to his job. While not working, he loved to be outdoors. Hunting, gardening both flowers, and vegetables, and tinkering on different projects. Most of all, time with his children and grandchildren meant the most to him. His generous love and giving spirit will sorely be missed by the ones he loved and would give the shirt off his back for.
Left to cherish his memory are children: Dolores (Andy) Lock, Esther (Kelly) Isbell, Kenneth (Rachel) LaBerge, Nancy LaBerge, Chrissy (Bill) Dalton; 16 grandchildren and many, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; siblings: Dolores Kerr, Terrance Torka; many nieces and nephews; and a childhood friend, Tom Atwater. He was preceded in death by loving spouse, Paula E. Dalton; parents Edward and Dorothy (Bukowski) Torka; and brother, Richard Torka.
The family would like to extend gratitude to the nurses and staff at From the Heart, as well as Care Team Hospice for their exceptional care and welcoming arms.
Friends and family may gather for fellowship and visitation from 1PM until 7PM, Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Ambrose Funeral Home, 1200 Garfield Avenue, Bay City, Michigan 48708. Honoring John's wishes, cremation will follow and a private burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family for future designation in care of Dolores Lock.
