AIKEN, SC - DixieLee Marie Maxwell “Marmie” 58 passed away peacefully at her home Saturday, July 10, 2021  surrounded by her husband and 4 children after a year long battle with cancer. 

     DixieLee was born in Nashville, Tennessee on December 8, 1962 to Jack and MaryAnn Merlin. She was one of 5 children, Danny(Sandy), Debra, David (Tressa), Jack (Brooke). She married the love of her life David and moved to Aiken, SC. Together they raised 4 children, 3 daughters and a son.

     She began a career with the United States Postal Service that spanned 30 years. She enjoyed more than anything, spending all the time she could with her family. She was an active church member at Hillview Baptist Church and loved to sing in the choir. She loved to laugh and make everyone around her feel special. She had the most beautiful spirit and never met a stranger.  

     She was proceeded in death by her parents, Jack and MaryAnn Merlin. She is survived by her stepmother Kathy Merlin. Her husband of 37 years, David Sr. Children, MaryAnn (Micah), Laura (Dale), David Jr., Hannah (Cam). Grandchildren, Micah Jr., Marissa, William, Olivia and Brooks. 

     The family will receive friends Friday evening, July 16th from 6 until 8 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home.

     The funeral service will be Saturday morning, July 17th at 11 o’clock at Hillview Baptist Church, 1974 Jefferson Davis Hwy., Graniteville, SC. The service will be livestreamed at (https://hillviewchurch.org) . Interment will follow in Historic Bethany Cemetery.

     Memorial contributions may be directed to the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center (https://tischbraintumorcenter.duke.edu/)
