LATHAM - Dmytro Jesep, 99, passed away peacefully Friday, December 19, 2025, at Riverside Center for Rehab. & Nursing.
Born in Ukraine, he was the son of the late George and Maria Kurlak Jesep.
Dmytro, having survived the ravages of World War II and German forced labor, was an avid reader. He arrived in the United States shortly after the war and served his new country in the U.S. Army before working as a welder at General Electric in Schenectady for many years.
He enjoyed exploring historical sites, watching documentaries, and reading the latest historical biographies or accounts of key moments in history. Up until the last several years, Dmytro was a regular attendee and congregant of Ss. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Eastern Rite in Cohoes.
Dmytro adored his wife, Gloria Partak Jesep, and remembered her daily despite her passing more than 30 years ago. He equally adored his granddaughter, Janelle, to whom he was unconditionally devoted. Janelle always made Dmytro smile and laugh. Nothing pleased him more than to spend time with Janelle. Gloria and Janelle always had a special place in his heart.
Dmytro is survived by his two beloved sons, Michael D. Jesep (Carol) and Paul P. Jesep; by his adored granddaughter, Janelle Jesep; and by his sister, Catherine Whitcomb. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his two sisters, Anna Zerebynsky and Sr. Maria Gerard Jesep, OSB.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., in the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes. Interment will follow in St. Peter & St. Paul's Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Waterford.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home from 8:30 a.m. - 10 a.m., prior to the service.
