Dock Ashley

Dock Ashley, age 90, of Latexo passed away Friday, September 19, 2025 at the Woodlands Height Hospital in Lufkin. Dock was born March 14, 1935 in Kennard to parents, Jim Wade Ashley and Lillie Bell Carter Ashley. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Era as a paratrooper. Dock was a heavy equipment operator for many years and also owned and operated a convenience store in Crockett. He was a longtime member of the Lothrop Lodge #21 AF & AM serving as past Worshipful Master, also past Worshipful Master of the Sam B. Crawford #1418 AF & AM and a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 509 serving as Past Patron. Dock was a member and deacon of the Latexo Baptist Church where he served for many years.

Dock is survived by wife, Evalena Ashley of Latexo; daughters, Larea Gamble and husband, Gary of Latexo, Angie Currie and husband, Randy of Latexo; grandchildren, Jared Gamble and wife, Mindy of Taiwan, Kurt Currie and wife, Erin of Fayetteville, AR, Emily Hall and husband, Travis of Belton, Kyle Currie of Crockett, Kristen Nerdahl and husband, Dan of Hudson; eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Glenda Coates of Winnsboro, LA; brother, Bruce Ashley and wife, Eileen of Latexo; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded by parents, Jim and Lillie Ashley; sisters, Ruby, Bonnie, Gereline; brothers, Jim Wade Jr., Wayne, Wyndell, Tommy, Sidney, Charlie.

Funeral services for Dock Ashley will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 21, 2025 at the Latexo Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Greer and Dr. Bill Jones officiating.

Masonic graveside and Military Honors will follow in the Latexo Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. prior to service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Latexo Baptist Church.
