Dolly Mae Dunn, a spirited child whose life, though brief, was marked by incredible strength and an undeniable presence, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at a local hospital in Temple, Texas. Born on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, in Temple, she touched the hearts of many in her short time on this earth.

Dolly showcased her strong-willed personality from the very beginning. During an ultrasound at just seven weeks, her parents were enamored by her tiny form, already beginning to show the person they would grow to love dearly. As her father prepared for her arrival, Dolly’s feisty nature became evident. Though she experienced challenges, including entering the world at only 23 weeks, she defied expectations with her vibrancy. Her first surgery was a success; statistics suggested she wouldn't open her eyes for weeks, yet she revealed her strength by doing so, much to the delight and amazement of those around her.

A loving environment surrounded her as she navigated her early days. She had a penchant for her favorite foods—chicken and cranberry ginger ale, and she relished the energetic moments when she would kick in excitement until she was fed. Dolly embodied vibrancy and sass, often necessitating time in her little arm jail to keep her from pulling at everything within her incubator. Her nights were filled with rambunctiousness, and her love for the sound of her family's voices shone brightly.

Dolly Mae will be fondly remembered not only for the joy she brought but also for the worry and excitement shared by her parents, Matthew Dunn and Madelyn (Pearse) Dunn. She is survived by her loving family, including her aunt, Lindsey Hicks, and her spouse Patrick Herring, her uncle Andrew Cisneros, and five cherished grandparents: David Dunn and his wife Carla Dunn, Travis Swindell, Julie Pearse, and Stephen Cisneros. Additionally, her legacy continues through her six great-grandparents: Travis Swindell and his wife Louise,, Robert Cisneros and his wife Juanita, and Rusty Pearse and his wife Nancy.

Dolly's first momentos included the purchase of her first dress from her parents and the joy surrounding the email confirming her gender, a special moment marking the love and anticipation of her family. A small cow stuffed animal that carried the comforting scent of her family became a treasured reminder of their love.

As her little heart had bigger plans in heaven, we celebrate the impactful moments and precious memories Dolly Mae Dunn imparted during her time with us. A visitation will be held at Young's Daughters Funeral Home & Bereavement Center in Temple on February 15, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at the same location from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM with Jim Fly officiating. Burial will follow at Greathouse Cemetery, beginning at 12:30 PM.

Though her journey has come to a close, the love Dolly shared will resonate forever in the hearts of her family and friends.

A special thank you to Baylor Scott and White NICU Team for their support and care during their stay,
