Dolores Augostini Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Barber Memorial Home, Inc. - Johnson City on Feb. 27, 2026.
With deep love and gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Dolores Marie Manni Augostini, who died peacefully on Wednesday February 25, 2026.

Born on August 22, 1935 in Binghamton, New York, Dolores lived a life defined by devotion to her family and faith, quiet strength, and enduring kindness. She grew up in Binghamton's 7th Ward, attended Binghamton Central High School where she was voted "Best Natured Girl", and went on to build a life centered around love, resilience, and generosity.

Dolores was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Lena Manni, her husband of 56 years, Louis P. Augostini, her son Vincent Augostini, and her siblings, Frances (Leonard) Giorgio, Joseph (Frances) Manni, Anthony (Dorothy) Manni, and Grace (Leo) Mariani. She is also predeceased by her mother and father-in-law, Louis and Mary Augostini, and her siblings-in-law: Rose (Angelo) Orsini, Nick (Helen) Augostini, Teresa (Raymond) Questa, Laura (Gene) Cory, Ike Jordan, Bob (Jane) Augostini, Bob Gentile, Joyce Augostini, Roberta Augostini, and Pete Augostini. She is survived by her children: Lorraine (Steven), Christopher (Maria), Patricia Ann, Andrea Courtney, Thomas (Patricia), and Louis (Shannon), and her 10 grandchildren, who she referred to as her best friends: Rachael and Madeleine Augostini, Elena (Alex Bronzo) and Ben Insley, Thomas, Michael, and Matthew Courtney, and Emma, Joseph and Leah Augostini. She is also survived by several siblings-in-law: Josephine Jordan, Marion Gentile, Bill Augostini, Carl Augostini, Marie Augostini, and many nieces and nephews.

Throughout her life, Dolores was known for singing at hundreds of weddings, playing the piano beautifully by ear, and hosting frequent, large gatherings of family and friends at her home. On any given evening, she could be found among the slot machines at Tioga Downs, scratching lottery tickets, or playing card games with friends. She was also an avid viewer of the Game Show Network, and a YouTube enthusiast.

The kitchen was her sanctuary. She is famous for her red sauce, meatballs, lasagna, and pizzelle cookies. She kept several tubs of ice cream in her freezer at all times for her grandkids to enjoy. And she was probably the only Italian around who didn't eat pasta!

More than anything, she was devoted to her Catholic faith. She was a parishioner of Blessed Sacrament in Johnson City, and then St. Thomas Aquinas in Binghamton. Her faith helped her be the natural caregiver that she was, especially with her youngest son, Vincent, in his final years.

Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in the long and beautiful life she lived and the legacy she leaves behind - one of faith, strength, and family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A wake will be held Sunday March 1st from 5 to 8 pm at the Barber Memorial Home 428 Main St. Johnson City. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1 Aquinas Street at 11am on Monday, March 2, 2026. The service can be live-streamed at STA-SP.org In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Vincent Augostini Memorial Scholarship that is awarded to two Johnson City High School students each year. Donations can be mailed to The Vincent Augostini Memorial Scholarship Fund, at PO Box 5599, Endicott, NY 13673.
