Dolores was born October 1, 1934, in Roanoke, Virginia to Claude and Audrey Harris, and graduated from Andrew Lewis High School.

Dolores received her license to practice cosmetology (electrolysis) from the State of Ohio where she lived and practiced from 1965 to 1981 when she returned to Roanoke, Virginia. Dolores continued to practice electrolysis in Roanoke until 1985 when she married the late Alonza Ayres in 1985 and moved to Bedford, Virginia. Dolores continued to practice electrolysis at her Lynchburg office and Bedford home well into her early eighties servicing life-long clients who became life-long friends.

Dolores was an avid cut flower gardener and participated in competitive garden club entries wherever she lived. She was devoted to her sons and her grandchildren who were the joys of her life.

Dolores' last years were spent in South Carolina near her surviving family.

Dolores is preceded in death by her loyal husband Alonza Ayres, her first born son Richard Moran, and her beloved sisters Marcheta Ferguson, Margaret Harris Johnson, Murlene Harris Williams, and brothers James Harris, William Harris, and Charles Harris. Dolores is survived by Travis Moran (Kristine), her grandchildren Justin Moran, Sarah Shaw (Elliott), Trent Moran, stepson Mike Ayres (Cindy) and numerous loyal and loving nieces and nephews.

A grave side service will be planned in the summer at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem, Virginia. Date and time to be determined.
