Rensselaer- Dolores A. "Do" (D'Ambrosi) De Thomasis entered into eternal life on Tuesday, December 31, 2024. Do is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 37 years, Joseph De Thomasis, and the pride and joy of her life, their sons, Nicholas (Alicia) and Zachary. Her family was her life. She is also survived by her father Louis A. D'Ambrosi, her brother Louis, and her sisters and their families; Maria and Vincent Turner, their daughter Isabella Garramone (Zachary Wood); Angela and Kenneth Trzepkowski and their sons, Jonathan and Louis; Jeannine and Derek Wolfe and their daughters, Kathryn and Emily. The family she gained through her marriage, her mother-in-law, Elizabeth "Betty"; sister-in-law, Michelle and John Collins and their children, Ashley and Matthew (Maggie); and brother-in-law, James and his children, Vincent and Felina. Her dogs, Rizzo and Dixie; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends who are like family.
She was predeceased by her mother, Dolores B. D'Ambrosi, her father-in-law Agostino De Thomasis, Joseph's mother, Dolores E. De Thomasis and Laurie Colatosti, her best friend.
Do would like to thank her home nurses, Agnes and Rosemary for their wonderful care and all of the kind and wonderful people at NYOH, especially the infusion room nurses. Also a special thanks to those who provided transportation to and from her many appointments and treatments.
Do was employed by Excelsior University for 37 and ½ years, and was Bursar for the University for many of those years.
Do was selected as a member of the 2025 Inductees to the New York State Sportswriters and Coaches Organization for Girls Sports (NYSSCOGS) Softball Hall of Fame in Herkimer, NY, and will be inducted on June 21, 2025.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Do's family on from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2025, at the W.J. Lyons, Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Ave. Rensselaer, NY 12144. Do's Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2024, at St. Pius X Church, 23 Crumitie Rd. Loudonville, NY 12211. Interment will immediately follow the Funeral Mass at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3rd Ave. Ext. Rensselaer, NY 12144.
