Dolores "Lauri" Dorrman, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2024, at Saint Clare’s Denville Hospital, surrounded by her loving children . Born on December 28, 1958, in Paterson, NJ, Lauri was a nurturing soul whose love for her family was the cornerstone of her life.
After graduating from Montville High School, Lauri dedicated many years to her career as a surgical technician, making a profound impact on the lives of those she served at numerous healthcare facilities, including Chilton Memorial Hospital. Her proudest accomplishment in this role was her unwavering dedication to ensuring the well-being of her patients. With her caring and nurturing personality, Lauri brought comfort and compassion not only to the operating room but also to everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Lauri was deeply devoted to her children and grandchildren, often reflecting on her love for them with heartfelt pride. She is survived by her sons, Douglas Dorrman (Jaclyn) and Kevin Dorrman (Jessica), and her daughter, Michaela Mathis. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Dominic, Lucas, Ava, Gage, and Emma, who were the light in her life and whom she adored wholeheartedly.
She also leaves behind her brothers, Harry Van Riper, who shared many fond moments with his long-time companion, Peggy Guttilla, and Robert Van Riper and her dear friend, who helped to care for her the last 5 years, Charles Mickens. Lauri was predeceased by her cherished son, Keith Dorrman, and her beloved parents, John and Viola (née See) Van Riper, whose memory she held dear.
Beyond her commitment to family, Lauri found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a deep affection for cats and relished the thrill of going off-road in the woods with her quad, where she felt most alive and free.
A memorial gathering to celebrate Lauri's remarkable life will be held on January 3, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at The Morrison Etheridge Funeral Home, Inc. in Butler, NJ. In this time of remembrance, family and friends will come together to honor a woman whose spirit touched so many lives and whose memory will forever live in the hearts of those she loved.
Lauri will be profoundly missed, but her loving presence will remain a guiding light in the lives of her family, reminding them of the strength of love and fond memories built through the years.
