Pyne Keohane Funeral Home - HinghamDolores Markey Evin of Hingham and Acton, MA (90 years old) passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, with her family by her side.
Born October 29,1935 in Dublin, Ireland, Dolores was the daughter of Theresa McGrath and Gerard Markey and one of seven children. She attended Our Lady of Succour Industrial School, Newtownforbes, then emigrated to the United States at age 15, to join her sisters in Delaware. In 1960, she met and married Nejdet Evin from Istanbul, Turkey. In 1972, Dolores and Nash moved to Acton where they lived and raised their children for 40 years. During that time, Dolores was an involved with the Church of St. Isadore in Stow, and St. Elizabeth’s Parish. She worked at Kussin’s Children’s Clothing store in Concord for over 10 years, and Talbots in Acton. In 2012, Dolores moved to Hingham Woods with Nash, where she lovingly cared for him until his passing in 2018 at 92 years of age. In Hingham. she was an active member of St. Paul’s and Resurrection Parish, loved the ladies at Talbots, and was friend and supportive light to other caregivers at Harbor House and Allerton House, in Hingham.
Affectionately known as Dol, Dolores lived a life of true faith, strength, and acceptance. She was a devoted mom, grammy, friend, and neighbor. She had an unwavering sense of humor that she never lost, and the quintessential feisty heart of true Irish woman. She gave love, kindness, and compassion openly, honestly, and always without judgement. Even as she faced and overcame her own physical difficulties along the way, she was always on for a “laugh,” ready with a prayer for others and quietly donating to numerous children’s organizations and charities beyond her means. She was a true caregiver, nurturer, and protector of others – perfect balance of grace and grit. She loved God and her family unquestionably; her grandchildren were the sun in her world. In her life, Dolores was a beautifully humble, yet powerful example of what a human should be.
Now, Dolores has joined her family and a lifetime of friends for a reunion of envy. She is predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Nejdet Evin; her parents; as well as siblings (and their spouses), Betty Coughlin, Ron Markey, Patsy Markey, Desmond Markey, Shirley Kebrich, and Gerry Williams; and best friend, Sioux-z Patton. She is incredibly missed, loved and remembered here by her surviving family: son Kerim Evin (Adrienne Evin) of Easton, and their kids Carter, Colin, Abby and Allison; son Deniz Evin (Tonya Evin) of Charleston, SC, and their kids Elena, Brady, and Lauren; daughter Tara Eielson (Kris Eielson) of Hingham and their kids Ava, Jack and Leo; and brother-in-law, Dave Williams, dear friend Richie Patton, as well as numerous nieces and nephews from all over the world.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on March 21, 2026, at St. Paul’s in Hingham, followed by interment at St. Paul’s cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, please remember Dolores with a small act of kindness, a donation of time or tangibles that you have been meaning to give, or just choose to lift someone in any way they may need it.
