Dolores Marie (Kenefick) Hunt, 92, of Ellington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Dolores also resided in East Hartford where she raised her family, residing in Woodstock for many years as well.
Born on August 27,1932 in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late George Kenefick and Dorothy "Eva" (LeMire) Kenefick. She was also predeceased by her stepmother, Alberta Kenefick Burns who joined the family during her young adult years and was a grandmother to her children. Dolores grew up in Hartford and was a graduate of The Mount St. Joseph Academy in West Hartford, Class of 1951.
Dolores was the beloved wife of the late Warren Alfred Hunt. They were married at St. Peter's Church in Hartford and shared 66 years of devoted marriage.
She was predeceased by her husband and by her sons, Stephen, Michael, and James Hunt.
She retired from the US Postal Service in Hartford where she worked for many years and formed many lasting friendships.
Her journey took her to Woodstock where she lived on Quasset Lake and welcomed gatherings filled with laughter and love surrounded by family and friends – including those she had from childhood.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Susan (Hunt) Ostermeier and her husband, John Ostermeier of Ellington and by her beloved grandchildren, Eric, Duane, Nicole, Reid, Meranda, and Amy; and 15 great-grandchildren. She is also fondly remembered by her former daughters'-in-law.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 23rd at 10 AM at St. Bernard Church in Vernon, Ct.
Burial will follow at Ellington Cemetery in Ellington. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are entrusted to Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, Rockville, CT. For online condolences please visit: smallandpietrasfuneralhome.com
