MOUNT CARMEL - Dolores J. Kerestes, 92, of Mount Carmel, passed peacefully on Saturday, April 20, 2024.
Born in Mount Carmel, April 11, 1932, Mrs. Kerestes was the daughter of the late Antonio and Justina (Fincato) DeGaetano. She was married Aug. 5, 1951, in St. Peter's Rectory to George Kerestes. He preceded her in death on April 17, 2015, after 63 years of marriage.
Mrs. Kerestes was a 1950 graduate of Mount Carmel High School, where her nickname was "Dego." After graduation, she worked various jobs as a seamstress and cannery worker. She loved gardening, polka dancing, and doing crossword puzzles and Sudokus. She also enjoyed watching Mount Carmel Area School District television productions.
She raised her family on the wonderful 200 block of West Second Street, Mount Carmel, among "some of the finest neighbors one could ever ask for."
Mrs. Kerestes is survived by two sons, Michael and his wife, Roxanne, York, and Mark and his wife, Theresa, Macungie; five grandchildren, Hunter, Anthony, Christopher and his wife, Jamie, Thomas and his wife, Therese, and Sarah and her husband,z Andrew Miller; four great-grandchildren, James, Catarina, Noah and Georgia; and many caring nieces and nephews whose visits she enjoyed through the years.
She was the youngest of eight siblings. Sisters Frances, Inez and Angeline, and brothers Victor, Edward, Albert and Raymond, all preceded her in death.
KERESTES - Dolores Kerestes, 92, of 220 W. Second St., Mount Carmel. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday with Father Bernard Wamayose, AJ, officiating in Divine Redeemer Church, Mount Carmel. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg. Viewing will be held from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday with transferal prayers at 10 a.m. in the C. J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 27 N. Vine St., Mount Carmel, C.J. Lucas IV, supervisor.
