Dolores Petrush-Tarlton, 73, of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, died on October 20, 2025. She was the wife of Scott J. Tarlton. Born in Passaic, NJ on June 1, 1952, she was the daughter of Edward and Anna (Olko) Petrush.
Dolores grew up in Saddle Brook, New Jersey and graduated from Fairleigh-Dickinson University. She was a registered nurse for 47 years, enjoying a long career that spanned emergency rooms, home healthcare and directing assisted living facilities. In 2014 she was awarded the RI Home Healthcare Nurse of the Year, a well-deserved recognition of her dedication to her patients and the healthcare community. Outside of work, Dolores enjoyed being a mom - both to her children and all the different pets in her life - traveling, gardening, walking on the beach and the neighborhood book club.
Dolores is survived by her husband of 39 years, Scott, and their children; Alexandra Staats (Evan), and Jesse Tarlton (Olga), her brother Edward Petrush and two beloved grandchildren, Alik Tarlton and Schuyler Staats. Dolores is preceded in death by her brother George Petrush.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 24 starting promptly at 4:00PM (arrival starting at 3:30PM) at the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI. Following the service, there will be time to visit with friends and family until 6:30PM in the funeral home, and those attending are encouraged to come to celebrate her beauty and passion for life (no black attire necessary).
Dolores loved yellow roses or in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital - a charity very close to her heart throughout the years. www.stjude.org
